Waterfall on the Cliff | Fenghuang Ancient Town Hotel & Tourist Center

Location: Fenghuang

Year: 2013

GFA: 32,000 sqm

The project is made up of a visitor center, a hotel, parking and auxiliary amenities. It functions as a gateway complex that proceeds entering the old town of Fenghuang.

The hotel occupies the northeast corner of the site, and is defined by a section of cliff. We locate the hotel against the cliff without compromising the natural light and the views of the rooms. . The building adopts the spatial quality of the rocks so that the man-made structure of architecture could blend in naturally with the mountain. The overall appearance of the hotel is vigorous and masculine. The mass is split vertically as an abstraction of a crack in the mountain. A waterfall feature is designed in between and connects to a pond below, around which the hotel Amenities and restaurants are organized. The lilies and rippling water in the wind bring about a charming atmosphere for relaxation.

The space in between the visitor center and the hotel is designed as a landscape architecture that not only accommodates the required parking, but also creates an attractive roof garden that becomes an extension of the topography.
