The design revitalizes the Chinatown shopping mall into a civic cultural center in the setting of an urban green space. The innovative spatial configuration provides opportunities for diverse outdoor activities, including exhibition and memorial space, commercial, relaxation, etc., and makes the place an attractive destination for both citizens and tourists. The original underground space of the shopping mall is kept and turned into a sunken plaza. The concrete columns are transformed into "the Pillars of the Earth". Rising up to the sky, they tell the story of the land and its vitality.
