The design takes the metaphor of the drifting clouds and tries to achieve a feeling of fluidity and interlacement. Adapting to the topography, the scheme enlarges the waterfront area, replenishes local vegetation and enriches the ecology. It takes in the traits of water towns in South China and creates a series of themed landscape elements such as sinuous riverbank, zigzag walkways, garden of pines, garden of sands, garden of peaches, etc.
The pavilion on the Meditation Island is designed to provide a tranquil contemplating space for the employees. The pavilion is situated on the riverbank and blends in the environment like a rock that grows out of the earth. Taking metaphor of a crack in the ground, a sunken plaza is created and introduces in light and wind. The reflective ceiling mirrors the water and the surrounding greenery. Open but protected, the meditation pavilion provides a unique experience of interacting with nature.
