A Winding Journey | Youbang Campus Gallery Zone

Location: Jiaxing

Year: 2015

Site Area: 14,500 sqm

Architectural Design: Crox

We focus on enhancing the interaction between human and nature, architecture and landscape. The southeast corner bears most exposure to the public therefore acts in a display role. The green edge, the waterscape, and the walls work together to form a diverse and layered landscape for viewing. They define boundaries of spaces on the campus and convey a feeling of softness and grace that resonates the quality of landscape of South China.

Following the design concept of architecture, the landscape elements are organized in a spiral configuration along the ramp of the gallery. When ascending, people come across with multi-layered greenery until the views reach the rural scenery beyond. On top of the roof, soft-scape and hard-scape are organized in apposition with benches for relaxation. Water features of different scales wind around the periphery of the gallery. They are not only designed for viewing, but also function as an eco-friendly buffer zone to enhance the security of the campus.
